Singer, Guitarist & Songwriter

I’m Peter Webster, a singer, guitarist and songwriter based in Bedfordshire, England.

My music is rooted in contemporary folk and acoustic roots music, combining original songwriting with influences drawn from folk, Americana and the great singer-songwriter tradition.

I perform primarily as a solo artist, accompanying myself on acoustic guitar, and my music ranges from thoughtful, story-driven original songs to carefully chosen interpretations of songs that have inspired me over the years.

The Music

Songwriting is at the heart of what I do.

My original songs are influenced by the rich traditions of folk and acoustic music, but also by the songwriting of artists who combine strong melodies with storytelling, character and a sense of place.

Although English, my musical influences have always extended across the Atlantic as well as closer to home. The result is music that sits somewhere between contemporary British folk and American roots music.

I enjoy songs that have something to say — whether they tell a story, capture a moment, explore relationships or simply reflect something recognisable about everyday life.

From Recording to Live Performance

I’ve been writing and recording music for many years.

Earlier projects explored a wider range of musical styles, blending folk influences with elements of pop and Latin music. This work included the album Gold Ring Glinting, recorded with the Peter Webster Band, and the album Letters, released under my own name.

More recently, my focus has increasingly returned to the simplicity and immediacy of the solo acoustic performance: voice, guitar and song.

It’s a format that feels particularly natural to me and has allowed me to concentrate on what matters most — strong songs and an honest, direct connection with an audience.

Playing Live

I perform at folk clubs, festivals, acoustic venues and other live events, combining my original material with a carefully selected repertoire of acoustic songs.

My covers repertoire includes music associated with artists such as Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel and John Denver, among others.

Everything is performed live on vocals and acoustic guitar, without backing tracks.

Whether I’m performing an original song to a listening audience or playing familiar favourites at a more informal event, my aim is always the same: to create a relaxed, engaging and genuinely live musical experience.
